Howsam's paintings celebrate nature’s interconnected, complex rhythms while questioning our place in a diverse universe.

Working intuitively, texture and repetitive pattern are layered. The paint is manipulated as organic forms coalesce with energetic brushwork.

Artistic influences are many: the delicacy of medieval illuminations, the swooping, organic lines of  Japanese woodcuts, the complex textures of Jackson Pollack and the shimmering golden patterns of Gustav Klimt.
